I enjoy playing the dulcimer and learning other instruments.  I also play piano, penny whistle, harmonica, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, autoharp, guitar.   Looking around my home, I guess you can say I collect musical instruments.

Mother would sing hymns to us when were were kids and my sister and I would sing along.  We made some pretty good harmonies back then.  My sister and I taught ousrselves to play piano by ear, hearing a song we liked then going to the service club on base to sound it out.  We finally got to take formal piano lessons in our teens.  I always sang in the church choir and in college took a couple of semesters of chorus.  Also in college I studied classroom piano and guitar.

My musical interests are varied, from classical to bluegrass to old rock to Taylor Hicks.  Yes, Taylor Hicks.  In case you don't know who he is, let me tell you.  Taylor is a contestant on the 5th season of American Idol.  I never thought I would follow the show like I do, but if you know about Taylor, you will understand.  Tune in to Fox on Tuesday night at 7pm central and check out Taylor, the gray haired guy from Birmingham.  Or go to one of the sites in my links to learn more.

I am a member of the Yellowrockers Square Dance Club and edit their newsletter.   See more info on square dancing in Corpus Christi in my links.

I collect ladies head vases, which are florists vases in the shape of a ladies head.  They were very popular in the 50's and are becoming difficult to find at affordable prices.  I started collecting in 1969 and rarely paid more than $1 for them.  Once they got over $3 I stopped collecting and just enjoy looking at them now.  In addition, I have a small collection of Lilliput Lane houses and castles I started when my parents lived in England.  I also like music boxes.

I love to read and have hundreds of books, most of which are in storage since I don't have room for them.  I think I need a bigger house.
